These sessions are designed to improve the off road running skills of runners that want to become more confident and comfortable running across rough terrain that includes rocks, boulders and tree roots. You will come away with a good understanding of the skills required for technical running and a variety of drills that you can include in your training sessions. The course is perfect for runners training for C2C, Tuatara, Big Day Out, Croesus Crossing etc.
You have the option of attending those particular sessions that you are most interested in or to sign up for all 3. Each session is held at a different location to maximise your exposure to the variety of terrain that is available in Christchurch.
Pre requisite: Can comfortably run continuously for 60mins on undulating terrain.
Maximum 8 people, minimum 4.
This session focuses on the basic skills that are required for running over technical terrain. It includes drills that will improve balance, co-ordination, reaction time, agility and hill running technique. There will also be plenty of time to practice on the local terrain.
This time we tackle how to avoid tripping over those evil tree roots, maintaining momentum using your body posture whilst negotiating tricky obstacles, drills that will help you build up strength for boulder hopping and some interesting sections of track for more practice.
